Getting a Routine

September 26, 2018

The first couple weeks at Joshua were like getting our feet wet. Now we are getting the sense that we are fully emerged in the day to day routine. This last week we were introduced to our pause families. In a community full of hyper college age students and busy schedules it was so refreshing to have a Hume family outside of the building. We love having a place where we can go to when we need advice, rest, someone to listen to us, or simply to use wifi! Pause night was filled with laughs, games, s’mores, and good conversation.

Now the week is in full swing! Our first speaker, Jeremiah Faire has been challenging us to take a stance on our beliefs. So far we have discussed different theories of creation, and learned it’s dangerous to be comfortable in our faith.

It was great to have our minds stretched, but all of us were so excited to be invited to our first catalyst couple’s room for brownies and ice cream! Our first catalysts are Marcie and Ralph York. They have been so welcoming and encouraging to have here! Last night they lovingly welcomed twenty eight of us in their apartment at once! We played games and partook in one of our favorite pass times: puzzle making!

It is so exciting to finally be in the real routine, and live life together with our community.   Although the so called ‘honeymoon stage’ is over and reality is definitely setting in, I think all of us students can firmly agree that this is a pretty great reality to live in!
