First Day Of LA!

LA Blog Day One!!!

03-02-2020

Hey guys!

Today was day one of our LA evangelism trip.   It was an early start up at the Joshua building, which lead to us us being able to hit the road a little earlier than expected.  After the long, music filled (praise be to God) drive, we got down to our first destination at McArthur Park in Los Angeles.

We met our guide Jeff, got into our evangelism groups and were sent out to start talking to people.   My group was a little hesitant at first but after a while of walking, I really felt as if I should talk to this younger guy that we were walking past.  After a double take and walking a few steps more, I decided to turn around and strike up a conversation.  I met Crev, a young entrepreneur my age who has a clothing startup, and later his friend Sarah that joined him at his seat a few minutes later.  Rocky initial conversation lead into life stories and truths about life that were being shared.   My group trickled back after they noticed I had turned around and soon it seemed like a group of six friends that were catching up after an over-due reunion.  Two hours later, conversation had flowed well and transitioned fairly quickly from music preference, to depression and promptings from God in our lives that lead to incredible encounters.  If you guys want to pray for Crev and Sarah; Crev had asked that we pray that God continue to guide his journey as he’s trying to earn a living, and that in that process he’s able to help and impact others along the way, and Sarah had asked for guidance in her life and her career trying to get started in the film industry, and safe travels as she heads back to New York or wherever might be in store for her.

We finished out the night after dinner at a Nicaraguan restaurant, by taking a drive through skid row and the fashion district, looking at the stark contrast between different places we’re going to have the chance to serve in later this week.

This day has been a huge blessing and encouragement seeing the potential that this week has to offer, and getting a glimpse at all the ways that God is going to be able to work in and through us.   It might seem intimidating to be a group of ~40 people in a city of ~ 4 million, but it’s encouraging to know that through faith and trust in God, we can do incredible things.   Goodnight everyone.   This is Matt Mann,  singing out from the pew of a Korean Baptist Church!  We can’t wait to let you know what tomorrow has in store for us.
