Hello World! Let us give you an update on recent things going on in the Joshua Wilderness Institute. This is Audrey and Caleb by the way (hi mom). So let’s see…yesterday was Wednesday. We had normal schedule with class and book discussion. For book discussion, we sat around in the classroom, taking the book The Great Divorce piece by piece, trying our best to figure out what C.S Lewis was trying to say. Spoiler Alert: it was all a dream. What? Really Clive? Really? We’re all just chess pieces on the silver table. After book discussion, we had a dreaded family meeting. Just a little background story, we have NOT (we mean not at all) had good experiences with family meetings on Wednesdays. We usually receive some pretty sad news if you know what I mean (we mean people leave). Sad times, sad times. Surprisingly, this family meeting was a really good one. We found out some big news. We all were assigned our summer jobs! Audrey and I are both working in the Snack Shop together! Side note: before we left for the DR, we had a theme night where the men won (and cheated). Their prize was no room checks today. The men were oh so sweet and did all the girl chores so that we could clean our rooms. Yay Women Wednesday.
Hi, Chloe taking over. Wednesday was an amazing day. After finding out our summer jobs, I headed over to the Catalyst apartment (shout out to Rachel for having amazing parents) to make valentines. February is heart month in the York family. February is filled with heart Bible verses, heart shaped food, heart decorations, heart shaped puzzles, heart shaped playing cards, and heart shaped ivy. If you can think of something that could be heart shaped, it is. If you want to know what Valentines Day is really about, take some advice from Mrs. York:
“You want to go on a scriptural safari on God’s love or specifically heart scriptures, find out what God has to say about hearts: our hearts, His heart”
“Anything that reminds me of God’s love”
“Don’t put the focus on dating and relationships”
Hi, it’s Audrey and Caleb again. Anyways, today we are sad to share some unfortunate news. We had yet another family meeting and found out one of our beloved Joshua siblings has decided to leave the program. We were all surprised and upset to receive this news. It’s always so heartbreaking when we lose one of our siblings. It made it even harder that he is one of our closest friends in this program. Even though it is hard, we know that God has great things in store for him. We know he is in God’s hands and will always be in our hearts.
