Valentines Day

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! The day we can’t celebrate. Just kidding, but I’m not really. It’s chill, not like we want to celebrate, we just kind of want chocolate. Anyways, the last update you got was on Thursday, and considering I didn’t read the blog I don’t know what you know. So quick recap: we had a theme dinner which was Mission Impossible and super fun. Kelsey made a really good meal – chicken and dumplings! It was amazing. We did a laser challenge where the staircase at the end of the dining room was covered with strings going every which way and we had to get through, while touching as little as possible. It was proven to be easiest by sliding down like a child, but I don’t know what everyone did. After dinner we played ‘fugitive’ which is where we have to get from point A, the dining room, to point B, the top of the stairs at the end of the split hall, without getting caught by a staff member. The lights were out and there was furniture everywhere for us to hide behind. Somehow Tanner got a bloody nose but he’s fine so it’s chill.

Anyway, before we knew it, it was the weekend and most people worked the camp for the fun three-day weekend. The people who worked got a lot of hours and the people who were able to go home got an extra day with family. All the Joshua students came up for dinner on Monday, our last work day.

Tuesday we had a late morning thanks to our awesome staff letting us sleep in. Many people had an optional breakfast around 8 rather than a mandatory one at 7. Bob taught Pauline Epistles again this morning with this diagram.

The first circle represents a life without Christ.

The second circle represents a “life with Christ” where you are still on the throne.

The third circle represents God’s proper place in your life, on the throne.

Bob did a great job teaching this morning, as he always does.

We had The Grill this morning with our speaker, Matt and his wife Marlowe (hopefully we spelled that correctly). During The Grill we asked Matt what was a significant obstacle he has overcome, and He told us that he overcame needing to feel like he had to have a successful youth group, in the sense that he did not need to have a lot of students and be well known. His wife Marlowe said that her struggle was giving up her son’s social difficulties up to God in Ecuador, as she could not help him in that time of need. It is so cool that they could come up and spend some time with us. God’s doing some cool stuff up here at Joshua, fam!
