Just week from break and we are all going full steam ahead. Over the weekend, Victory Outreach came for a retreat here at Hume with kids from all over the state. The O.K. Chalet is now officially open. It is a new hangout area for anyone here during the winter which includes milkshakes, pizookies, pizza, and a mechanical bull with Hume and beans underneath. A tradition for the O.K. Chalet is to give an odd or obscure name for yourself to be called out when the order is ready. Friday was a rush to finish our eight page essay for hermeneutics. Many stayed up late the night before to finish the anxiety filled assignment. Groups of students who weren’t working over the weekend went to various locations for a little getaway from the buzz of Hume lake. Some went to Yosemite, Moro rock, Fresno, and the beach. A huge group stayed back for a Magic the Gathering tournament here at the building. Monday was back to the dimi-normal schedule with an exam thrown into the mix. The exam was a span of 50 questions covering eight lessons. Students were cramming in study material to the last available minute. The mens community had started an accountability group called the Forge which takes place Monday night in one of the guys dorms. Monday was our white elephant gift exchange with a story intertwined for a twist. The gifts ranged from candy, guitars, stolen gifts, and to a goldfish named Leviathan.
