Back To Normal Life!

Hello Everybody!

It’s back to normal life in the Joshua building! Everyone is settling back into the routine and it is a great time to be a Joshua student, save for a little jet lag. It was interesting to see just how many people were on time for breakfast given everyone was awake at about 5:30 in the morning, 9:30 A.M. Dominican Republic (DR) time.

This week we have PJ Lewis as a speaker! So far we have seen him in two speaker sessions and at the grill. It was great to get to know him a little more by asking the hard questions. He is a great guy with a lot of wisdom and a lot of good stories. One of the big take aways from his talks are the three facts about God: 1) God is in control, 2) God knows what’s best, and 3) God loves me. Three basic truths that are simple yet so deep and it is only by believing these truths that we can truly trust God. Although his wife couldn’t be here with him, she made the class cupcakes! Now these aren’t your ordinary cupcakes they are chocolate cake with a strawberry buttercream frosting and dark chocolate Dove heart decoration on top. We can sure feel the love!

This week we are also preparing for a big test on Friday in Hermeneutics. It is a midterm so it will be reviewing everything that we have learned so far. Another exciting topic in the community is summer jobs. Everyone is dying to know where they will be working. Some know where they are working, and others are still in the interviewing stage.

Now, the weather keeps predicting snow and the clouds grow and get dark yet there is still no snowfall. It’s just cold. What a difference between here and the Caribbean, but hey at least it’s dry.

During small groups everyone was able to verbally process their experiences in the Dominican Republic and how they saw hope in the community. Coming back there has been a bit of a culture shock. Overall our time in the DR has been really impactful. We left with a deeper love for Christ and desire to have a faith like that of Abraham, Rehab, and Israel (at the walls of Jericho). A faith that is lived out daily, trusting in God in every circumstance.

Lastly, for Girl’s Night all the ladies were able to decompress with a little yoga. Then we had a time set aside to share testimonies. It was a great opportunity for the girl community to learn more about each other and get a glimpse of how God is working our lives.

That’s all for now guys! Have a great week!
