Hello everyone,
Last week, my Joshua friends and I set out on our first mission trip to Hume So-Cal. Last week, the whole group had the opportunity to be able to serve in a bunch of different ways, which went from building an ice rink, cutting down trees, digging trenches, building shelves, and so much more! After a long hard day’s work, we all got to walk down to the lookout point and were able to watch the sun disappear over the mountains while we got to lift our hands in worship and bow our heads in prayer! It was such a good time to be able to take a break from school work and long days in the building and just be able to go help people that really needed it. I am so grateful that God opened the doors to JWI because he has just let me be able to practice how to serve in the way that we are called to do! If you are reading this blog post, thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope that this inspired you to go out and live the way that God has intended us to!

Reflecting on our week at Hume SoCal, I have found myself feeling incredibly rested and thankful.
We returned from a week of serving and working down at Hume SoCal, hauling trees, raking leaves, clearing sheds, disassembling tents, jackhammering rocks, building fences, building an ice rink, and so much more. We worked hard during the days and spent our evenings playing games, participating in karaoke, and worshiping at a beautiful lookout point.
In blessing this community, I found myself so personally blessed. In conversations with the staff and friends, in work that made my body ache and bleed, and in the beautiful weather and time in God’s creation I felt overwhelmingly grateful to serve.
My word for the week is content. Before coming to Joshua I felt an incredible sense of loss and ache, but looking back I am able to confidently say that all that loss was necessary for the work needed to be done in my heart over the past two months. I was working on the grounds crew for Hume SoCal so I was hauling trees, logs, sticks, and branches off in a trailer and near the end of the week I was looking bruised and battered. But I had a moment where I was breathless, sore, and bleeding, riding in the back of a trailer in the cold crisp weather of fall, and I didn’t want to be anywhere else in the whole world.
My life at Joshua has been hard but I am so thankful and content for the loss and hardship that brought me to this point, because Jesus has met me here.
I pray Jesus is meeting you where you are too.
Praying for you all!
