Greetings from the Dominican Republic,
It’s hard to believe that our time here is coming to a close. We have grown closer as a community and have learned so much about the people here that we have come alongside these past two weeks.
I have been serving at the women’s social work site in La Joya. There I have been blessed to see the work that God is doing through Daisy, Noelia, and the other staff in the community. The relationships they have built and their opportunities to pour into the women has been encouraging and inspiring for me.
As a JWI community, we have been able to spend our evenings together, either just hanging out or during planned events. Last night the staff of Students International organized a worship night for us. It was really sweet to have some more time set aside for us to spend with God.
This time in the Dominican Republic has been a good break from the building and for self-reflection. Speaking for the community, we have been feeling some of those hunger pains from our Joshua fast. It has been hard, but we know that it will be so much sweeter if we turn to God in this time rather than back to the other things the world says that it can offer us.
God is doing so much in my life, in the lives of my Joshua siblings, and in the lives of the people here in the D.R. I could go on, but I won’t.
Pray for safe travels back to the states and for those that have been sick.
