Hello parents! This week is pretty chaotic, and a little crucial. During the weekend my roommate and I both worked concessions. This weekend was high school camp so you could already assume that we had some pretty interesting conversations with the campers. One of the best parts is getting the opportunity to go to their chapel. I cannot explain the feeling of happiness it gave me to see hundreds of campers singing out with all their hearts to the Lord. Now being on the staff side of this camp, I get see God moving in so many different ways. Sometimes we can’t explain why He does what He does and sometimes that may take years to figure out. I was a camper here at Hume, and now I get the privilege of serving at the same camp that once served me years later. This camp plants a seed in their hearts, like it has in mine when I came here as an awkward middle schooler all those years ago. After a rewarding weekend working in the OK Chalet and Hume and Beans, we are back to our academics. The pressure is high with our third Philippians test not on Friday, but on Thursday. So, many of us are trying to cram much needed study time in these next two days with anxiety.
Salutations! From rooms 205 and 101 comes a blog like you’ve never seen before… or, wait. Nevermind. Yeah, it’s the same. My roommate and I had very different weekends apparently. Whereas his was pretty mild mine was either drastically boring or pretty eventful depending on the time of day. Working activities is always fun and I was super excited because I got to work Reball for the first time! (It’s basically paintball but indoors and with rubber balls.) On Saturday I had to get initiated because it was my first time working Reball and the way they do it is by shooting you with the guns at their maximum output. I got a couple welts on my butt and Skids, the head Ref, got me right in the arm. Overall it was a fun little experience and people throughout the day would ask me what happened (seeing the welt on my arm) so I took the opportunities to tell random stories of my injuries. One of which included a cat, some duct tape, and a funnel. The rest of the weekend was pretty chill. Getting to hang out and talk with high schoolers is always fun for me, and getting the opportunity to share Christ with them is even more so.
