We are one week away from being in the Dominican Republic, and the excitement in the building is running high! To prepare us for the trip, we have Dave Hansen, president of Students International, speaking to us on how to do short term missions in a practical and healthy way. The first night was the importance of long term missions, and how Students International, which happens to be the organization that we partner with for our trip, finds a way to make long Term missions meet with short term missions trips.
As a way to connect with the class, a group of Joshua Students went down to the lake today with our current speaker, Dave, and walked around the lake. He told us stories of past Hume memories, the history of Hume, and had meaningful conversations with many of the Josuaites who went down with him. A fun time was had by all, and it helped us get to know our speaker and how he thinks.
Our first set of classes are beginning to wind down as well, as Hermeneutics, our bible study class, and The gospel of John, begin to wrap up. We are looking toward the future of our education, not only here with our future Pauline Epistles class, who is taught by the elusive Wagon Master Chip, but to new schools as we look to what is next after the program.
We are so stoked for the up-coming weeks and we ask for prayer that God would be preparing our hearts as we work alongside a new culture and also with each other. We ask that you would be praying for God’s will be done in our lives and that we would be obedient to what He has put on our hearts. God is moving, and our prayer is that we continue to respond.
