Hey guys! It’s Brooke here 🙂
It’s been a loooooong week. When I say long week I mean long three weeks back from the DR. We’re all tired but today was a really good day. This week was crazy to say the least because we had 16 preview students living with us! I worked activities this past weekend and we worked into Monday (normally that day is a Sabbath) and then preview came Tuesday! We had a 6am on Tuesday as well so that means 3:30am in the gym!Â
We had a normal day of classes from Tuesday-Thursday and lots of studying Philippeans because testing is next week (AHHHH) Our speaker this week was John Noyes and he spoke about everything from Apologetics to Suicide. IT WAS SO GOOD. I learned how to defend my faith to an atheist as well as the importance of listening and asking good questions.Â
I can’t forget broom hockey where my team absolutely destroyed Dallas’ team! I got a few good body slams into the wall and a nice scrape on my leg but it makes it all the more fun. Broom hockey is definitely one of my favorite parts of Joshua.
Thursday was by far the best day. We had speaker in the morning where we learned about tactics for evangelism and current events where RD Joey played the Super Bowl halftime show. That was my first time watching a halftime show and I’m not going to lie, I’m not impressed. Anyways, preview left and it was good to get a little break. I hung out with Becca (womens RD) all afternoon. We worked on Philippians together, did some pilates, and went on a mail run. I love Becca so incredibly much, she truly is the backbone of the girl community here.Â
AND THURSDAY NIGHT. For Valentine’s day the boys made us dinner, dessert, gave us cards, and treated us like princesses. I am currently writing this blog with a face mask on because they bought us face masks! Buffalo, Elian, and AJ are getting their makeup done downstairs.Â
This week was mentally challenging for me because of the lack of physical rest I experienced. Everyone is getting sick and I think I may have a small cough. I have been surviving off coffee and chocolate but devo times have been so intentional because I have to find rest in the Lord. I feel at peace, overwhelming peace because I know God has me.Â
Talk to you next time,Â

Hey Guys!
Preview week is here and this time I have a third roommate! I got to host an awesome dude named Boston Sanches in my room and it was nice having extra people here experiencing Joshua for the first time. The preview students even led worship this week with us which was such a blessing. Although this doesn’t give an accurate representation of what Joshua is really like, it’s a nice taste of the fun you will experience here. While all this was going on, I still had to come to terms with what happened during my preview. Luckily, I didn’t have to do it alone because a few memebers of the community were with me helping me through this time which was nice. By the end of the week I was getting back to my standard self and learning from John Noyes what it looks like to evangelize to others. Some other great things happened this week because I was able to reconnect with a good friend for the first time in 2 months and reconciled with a sister. On Thursday night we did guys dinner and being able to serve my sisters was a lot of fun. It was extremely funny watching their reactions to the awards we gave them. I’m nervously optimistic to see what God is going to do within these last 3 months and post Joshua.

Hey guys it’s Sydney! This was my week in a few bullet points!
We hosted 16 preview students in the building this week and it was so fun. Preview is such a cool opportunity for people to check out Joshua and though it can get really loud and crazy sometimes it’s so much fun. Me and my roommate Brooke hosted one girl, Brooke and she was so sweet!
Speaker this week was so good, definitely in my top three! John Noyce was an atheist now converted christian who had so much insight to give us into the realm of evangelism and talking well about the gospel. The first day he acted as “atheist John” while we in the audience tried to have a conversation and back up what we believed. The rest of the sessions he addressed some specific issues in today’s world that are used against christianity and helped us have good questions to ask. With the LA trip coming up, I’ve been nervous about all the evangelism we are gonna be doing but after hearing John speak and give us tools, I am now feeling better equipped and ready for March!
Today was literally the best day. For dinner, the guys all made us dinner and they did such an amazing job. We were all escorted to our tables where we had mocktails, chicken alfredo and broccoli. The guys then surprised us with funny cards and an apple crumble dessert. But it keeps going, the girls were supposed to clean up dinner but the guys again announced that they would clean up and they had bought us all facemasks to do together! Currently as I write this blog, I am chillin with a clay face mask while some guys kindly are letting us do their makeup.Â
Overall, even with all the exhaustion and schoolwork, I would give this week an 8/10
