Snow Storms and Spike Ball

This last week in the Joshua building was amazing and full of new excitements. We had our first snowfall at Hume which caused breakouts of snowball fights (inside and outside the building), a new view of our canyon now covered in snow, and indoor Spikeball at every hour of the day.

Most importantly though, this week was full of spiritual growth and practices. My personal devo time has been so filling and God is healing so much in me to be able to pour into my guy friendships here, our guy community is growing in knowledge of each other and growing in sanctification with each other.

We had Cory Fenn, Dallas’s old roommate as our speaker this week. He spoke to us about denying ourselves, picking up our crosses in our walk with Jesus. Cory also spoke about giving up our desires, anxieties, and self rule over our lives to the Lord, to stop resisting and let God take the throne of our hearts.

In Old Testament class this week we practiced writing laments, which is sorrowful prayer and remembrance of God in Hebrew style poetry. I personally felt so much growth by writing out how I have fears and anxieties but remembering how God has been faithful to me and many others around me, being able to then worship God in the unknowns. We had a whole class discussion about our time writing our laments.

To top it off we are packing and leaving early for Thanksgiving break to evade the coming snowstorm.
