Another Week in the Building

This week we had a lot of fun, but not a lot of rest. We got our first 6 am which was actually really cool! We had to clean and vacuum the fleet vehicles for Joshua (they were already really clean). I got to work grounds this weekend, I got really tired on Sunday and went home a little early. It was a fun job and I hope to get it often. It’s mostly scraping bear cans and dumping dumpsters (which is actually lots of fun). We have been playing a lot of monopoly deal, but I’ve been struggling with memorizing Philippians. I got an app where it plays verses out loud, so it’s been going slow but steady. I am looking forward to my next weekend off.

As I think of this past week, it has all been a blur of exhaustion, fun memories, hard work, and learning about God.  Joshua truly is a mix of hard times and good times.  Between our first theme dinner ( Western Night), random worship nights, missing home, cutting onions in the kitchen, waking up early for chores and deep conversations around the lake, I am learning a lot about myself.  I am learning about how the mind and heart plays a role in our spiritual formation.  On a side note, our current catalyst family brought 2 golden retrievers and I am loving every minute of it.

This past week has been really challenging but forming. Thinking back there was the trip to Tarzan Falls where me and 5 other guys including Sam the speaker for that week, cliff jumped! That was something I wasn’t to experienced with but it was a blast. Getting to explore and that sweet adrenaline rush right before I hit the water from a 25ft drop was crazy. Something I’m learning here is how our heart(soul) is tied in with our knowledge and will. You cannot have one.

On Friday we had classes and deep cleaned as normal and then I went down to the kitchen to work in the bakery. On Satuday I woke up at 4:30am and got ready and then baked scones for breakfast. It was kinda stressful cause I was the only one in the bakery.

I went to bed early and once again got up at 4:30 on Sunday. The more bakery thing happened. Just before lunch, Hayden and I were sent to Cedar dining hall to help with prep work. After lunch, we went back and got to cut fruit! Cutting fruit has got to be my favorite job.

Monday I had my first hill walk. I took Sammy down to Fresno with me right after lunch so we could grab some things and meet the kittens, who I named Atlas and Ajax. We went to my favorite thrift store to see if a jacket I wanted was still there, and it was! So now I have the most fabulous winter jacket. We got up just in time for dinner, but still late, so we got a hill walk.

Tuesday we had our first 6am chores. Someone was late for KP (kitchen prep) Monday so we all had to get up and do chores. I got to vacuum out the vans. I honestly kinda enjoyed it. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Wednesday’s lunch was amazing, but I’, also having trouble with Philippians. I’m thinking about writing a letter to my mom, but I’m not sure what to say.
